The Freeze Dryer Is Here

The freeze dryer arrived on June 22, 2017. It was set up and ready to use the next day. The owners manual came filled with information for the Standard size. Lucky for us, we were able to got the Large size. The down side is the drying and freezing times in the charts may not be the same. I am tracking what we have done.

Batch Fourteen

Started: 7 pm. July 23, 2017 Finished: 12 am. July 25, 2017 Approx. Total Time: 29 hours Content: Mini Marshmallow, Ice Cream: Vanilla Bean, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Monster

Batch Two

Started: 4 pm. June 25, 2017 Finished: 1 am. June 27, 2017 Approx. Total Time: 33 hours Content: Pineapple A five year old "accidentally" pushed a button on the screen, which turned off the machine. The pump needed to cool for an hour before it could be restarted. During the cool I should have drained a little oil and the water that collects in the pump before restarting. I didn't and oil sprayed out of the vent pipe. The pump was turned off, 2 - 3 tablespoons of oil was drain out and a bit was added to cover the hole. The pineapple needed a few hours extra of drying time.
